Although obvious genius James “Fly” Lindsay invented RAP SNACKS in Philadelphia back in 1994, the self-described “official snacks of hip-hop” didn’t go mainstream until last summer, when a regional re-launch brought them to shelves up and down the East Coast (including Atlanta). Migos, our hometown heroes, helped with the brand’s reinvention, lending both their faces and an auto-tune-happy promotional jingle dubbed “Dab of Ranch” to accompany their signature potato chip flavor: Sour Cream with a Dab of Ranch (naturally). Best of all, each bag of snacks features a uncanny valley likeness of its namesake rapper plus an inspirational quote on the back like this one from the Migos: “Dabbin’ is a lifestyle.” The newest crop of Rap Snacks includes Lil Yachty’s Owee crunchy curls and Trina’s honeydew cheese puffs. Yes, honeydew cheese puffs. We just love Rap Snacks so much. www.rapsnacks.net. less...

At nearly 50 years old, Buddy’s has proven itself a neighborhood institution and a fitting rest stop for the weary. Besides being the launching point for Atlanta-favorite King of Pops, its contemporary claim-to-fame can be found in the recently added cooler of Frozen Pints, the local ice cream startup made with craft beer. Speaking of which, the pit stop’s craft beer selection includes brews from 21st Amendment, Left Hand Brewing Co., Abita, SweetWater, and Red Hare. Buddy’s is as serious about its alcohol selection as it is about octane. The wine supply features affordable mainstay Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais all the way up to fancy Veuve Clicquot. less...

When friends come to town, there are few things we enjoy more than taking them on a quick drive by BUDDY’S and saying, “That gas station has a great selection of wine.” We bring the skeptical in to peruse the shelves filled with bottles ranging from the aptly titled Cheap Red Wine, to the crowd-pleasing bottles of Luna di Luna’s blends, and a refrigerator of chilled whites practically begging to be picked up for a cookout on the fly. Though the options tend to vary with every shipment, we’ve never found an occasion where we couldn’t stop in and find something to fit both the event and our budget.
