Witches take note: Nestled on Edgewood Avenue (next to Sister Louisa’s Church Murch store), ATL CRAFT is a shop that owner Haley Murphy boasts is stocked with “everything you need for spell work”: we’re talking oils, crystals, ritual bath supplies, meditation masks, jewelry and more. Along with the magical aides, the spot also sells work by a number of local healers and artists — like Kat Shaw from Herbalista, Orion Crook and Maddy Barreto, among others — and, perhaps most importantly, provides a one-of-a-kind space for learning, support and fellowship for people whose belief systems typically fall outside of the status quo. 489-B Edgewood Ave. S.E. www.atlcraftshop.com. less...

Setting out to buy gifts for people is the worst. The thought process usually goes something like, "Will they like it? Is it something they already have? Why am I spending money on things that aren't for me?" Just kidding about the last part. But any agony that might go along with the gift-purchasing process is definitely numbed when there's a place you can go to find something for anyone. CL readers have consistently agreed that Richards Variety Store has the best selection of toys in town, but it has so much more than that and for people who are well beyond puzzle-and-doll appreciation age (not everyone necessarily reaches that age). Its selection of Kikkerland - makers of funky kitchenware and other miscellanea - is unbeatable, as is its selection of greeting cards. It also has a huge selection of books, board games, puzzles, candles, home goods, stationary, calendars, costumes (including those horrifying horse head masks) - basically, a little bit of everything for everyone. less...

When rushed to find those last-minute gifts for a Mother’s Day brunch, friend’s engagement party or brother’s birthday dinner (how did we manage to forget about those soirees, anyway?), we never take a second to stress about what to buy. Instead we stop in at METROPOLITAN DELUXE on our way over, because we know we’ll find something that will please everyone. With its selection of glorious fresh-cut flowers, divine candles, slutty soaps and cheeky cards, you can please both the irreverent sibling and the finicky mother-in-law all in one trip.
    Also at 1034 N. Highland Ave., 404-892-9337, www.metropolitandeluxe.com.
