The Prince of Wales works because it is so not a pick-up place. But that’s the beauty of this little pub, everything’s easier when nobody’s trying. You can go in a T-shirt to throw some darts, have a pint of Guinness and just relax. There is such an anti-scam vibe going on here that it all just happens. POW is one of the few Midtown spots that attracts lots of hetero males (many of whom apparently play soccer). If you’re looking for same-night action this may not be the place — you’ll probably have to go out on a date. But, you could get some liplock.
