Critical Crop Top continues 2018 with a new live sketch show titled “Critical Crop Top Enters the Multiverse.” Written, directed and performed by returning CCT ensemble members as well as some new faces, the show features a perfect blend of comedy and music. CCT’s new show will explore the allure of escapism through a story in which a woman enters an alternate universe and must decide whether to stay in this alternate timeline where politics, the world, and her personality are vastly different or return to her familiar world. Audiences won’t be disappointed by the mix of classic physical comedy, political satire and bawdy humor. “Critical Crop Top Enters the Multiverse” will be hosted at the historic Highland Inn and Ballroom Lounge on Friday 5/11 at 8 p.m., Sunday 5/13 at 7 p.m., Friday 5/18 at 8 p.m. and Sunday 5/20 at 7 p.m.

Fortunately, there is again cause to celebrate: shortly before he died, Johnson completed his second collection of short stories: The Largesse of the Sea Maiden, and it will be published on Tuesday, January 16. To mark the occasion, we invite you to join us that evening at the Highland Inn Ballroom Lounge at 7p.m., along with a number of Atlanta writers and musicians to reflect on Johnson’s unique literary output and to dig into this latest work.

Resurgens Fest 2017

On an optimistic whim, comedian and showrunner extraordinaire Joe Pettis created the Hotlanta Comedy Fest last year: a three-day shindig featuring all-local comedians. The fest returns this year with a new name and venue. Rebranded as Resurgens Fest, Pettis and more than 80 homegrown comics will perform Thursday through Saturday at the Highland Ballroom for seven individually themed stand-up showcases. This year will also feature improv in the cozy Highland courtyard and put ticket sales to very good use with all proceeds going to the Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence.
