Photographer
and Tenth Row vocalist Kevin Scheidt passed away Tues., May 17. He was 21-years-old. Scheidt was rushed to Gwinnett Medical Center Monday evening after collapsing at his own graduation from Gwinnett Technical College. According to the Kevin Scheidt Memorial Fund’s GoFundMe page, Scheidt suffered a ruptured spleen.

Man Up, Yancey, Fox Wound, and other local bands shared heartfelt condolences on social media shortly after the news dropped. The most moving and telling tribute may have come via Instragram from Dominic “Nicky” Palermo, singer and guitarist of Philadelphia indie rockers Nothing:
I just found out some awful news. That just a day after meeting this kid at Shaky Knees in Atlanta, he passed away suddenly following his graduation. Kevin kept bugging me through DMs on Twitter asking for a photo pass. I kept telling him they had a strict policy, but he was RELENTLESS. I finally told him I’d try and help. I left the fest and met him a couple blocks away and walked his camera in and met him at the gate once he was in. He was so overly stoked and freaking out, I told him to chill (the) hell out. He asked me if I could gather the dudes to take a portrait, but Kyle and Brandon went to get dinner, so me and Nick did. And it’s a lovely photo that I’ll cherish. Jeremy from Touche Amore just hit me up and gave me the news minutes ago and it’s truly crushing. It’s a reminder on how short this life can be and how we should all try and be more kind to each other. I’m so glad I didn’t write this one off. My thoughts go out to your family @kevinscheidt and may you rest in peace. What was to be Tenth Row’s next show, Sun, May 29 at Wonderroot, is now a benefit for Scheidt’s family.
