Exhibited at the Mammal Gallery and curated by artists Meredith Kooi and John Lloyd Hannah (Georges Bataille Battle Cry), “Solar Heresies” is a group show that draws upon “the cosmological and the heretical to explore the spectral nature of being,” according to the press release.

The show features a slew of mixed medium artists including Morgan Alexander, Brett Ian Balogh, Laura Bell, Andrew Boatright, Ian Cone, Stephanie Dowda, Nikita Gale, Corkey Sinks, and Michael Stasny. To celebrate the Winter Solstice (Sun. Dec. 21), Kooi and doom-obsessed duo Outer Gods perform “Movement For a Dying Sun,” a composition based on “the anticipation of an unresolved chord in Richard Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde,” played alongside Kooi’s butoh-inspired gestures and movements. It’s the perfect situation for OG’s sublime and obliterating sounds. Although the performance only occurs on Sat., Dec. 13, the show runs through Dec. 28.
