BOSCO channels Missy Elliott, Michael Jackson, and Hype Williams

ATL’s ‘Best Local Vocalist’ drops new video.

BOSCO has found her groove. Since moving to NYC, the Savannah-born singer/songwriter’s gotten love from Vogue, signed with Fool’s Gold Records, and made some of the best music of her burgeoning career. For Sene-produced “CAM4U,” her latest offering, BOSCO decided to “switch things up” by releasing the visuals for the single before actually putting out the song. The video for “CAM4U” premiered on the Complex Media Network-affiliate Pigeons and Planes, and the audio is set for release later this week.

“People need visuals, something tangible to hold on to,” BOSCO says. “I guess thats why I love them so much. They create the demand for people to actually look for the music laughs.”

If the visuals look familiar, BOSCO has an explanation, which she shared with PandP. “The black and white sections of the video were inspired by Missy Elliot (“The Rain”) and Michael Jackson (“Scream”). The other scene was inspired by Hype Williams (Belly). Being that I am a 90s baby, I’m heavily influenced by this era — especially the shiny suit Puff Daddy and Mase vibe. Hype Williams was one of my favorite video directors and his signature angles that he was known for, I aimed to capture that aesthetic.”

BOSCO tells CL that she has plans to release a new EP this spring, with forthcoming spot dates and a tour to follow.
