The AJMF returns with an eclectic roster for 2015



The Atlanta Jewish Music Festival (AJMF) returns for its sixth annual citywide celebration, March 12-23. Check out a handy field guide to this year’s events below.


Thurs., March 12: Opening night features a performance by Jump Babylon at Steve’s Live Music. $15-$20. 7:30 p.m.


Fri., March 13: Shabbat Service featuring musicians from Ahavath Achim Synagogue and Congregation Bet Haverim celebrating sacred Jewish music through Kirtan chanting at Ahavath Achim Synagogue Free. 7:30 p.m.


Sat., March 14: Hannah Zale and friends celebrate the release of her debut album, Fortress (Republic Records) at Steve’s Live Music. $10-$15. 8 p.m.



Sun., March 15: 4th Ward Afro-Klezmer Orchestra and Tony Levitas play the 31st annual Hunger Run Walk at Turner Field. Free. Noon-4 p.m.

Sun., March 15: Red Heifers play Congregation Beth Shalom. Free. 7:30 p.m.

Fri., March 20: Rabbi Brian Glusman, Sammy Rosenbaum, and local musicians performing at this year’s AJMF community for a Shabbat Ruach celebration. Congregation Beth Shalom. Free. 6:15 p.m. (service).

Sat., March 21: Yael Deckelbaum and Diwan Saz. Variety Playhouse. $25-$30. 8:45 p.m.

Sun., March 22: Interfaith Dialogue featuring members of Diwan Saz discussing of how the group’s members use music to promote peace at Emory Center for Ethics. Free. 10:00-11:30 a.m.

Sun., March 22: Cantorial featuring Adesnik, Hartman, Kassel, and Margulis celebrating sacred music from across the ages at Temple Emanu-El. Free. 5 p.m.

Mon., March 23: Holocaust Remembrance Concert featuring Dr. Laurence Sherr, Summit Trio and more at The Temple (1589 Peachtree Street). Free. 8 p.m.
