Call it the house that Big Boi and Andre 3000 (as well Mr. DJ) built. Stankonia, the legendary recording studio sitting on a strip of office and industrial properties off Northside Drive, is still home to that funk that OutKast invited listeners to visit on their 2000 album of the same name. So, it should come as no surprise that the Converse Rubber Tracks program has reached out to the studio, and arguably its most present landlord/tenant, for the chance to give an up-and-coming artist the opportunity to record in the legendary building.

Over the course of two weeks in September, eight countries will take part in the program, which will open the doors to 12 of the most storied studios worldwide. Along with the two Converse Rubber Tracks studios in Brooklyn and Boston, artists will have the chance to work out of Abbey Road Studios (London), Sunset Sound (LA), Hansa Tonstudio (Berlin), Tuff Gong (Kingston), Greenhouse Studios (Iceland), the Warehouse Studio (Vancouver), Avast Recording Co. (Seattle), Studios 301 (Sydney), and Toca do Bandido (Rio de Janeiro).

“With this new Converse Rubber Tracks program, we will unlock the doors to some of the greatest recording studios in music history and we’re ecstatic to offer this extraordinary experience to emerging artists worldwide,” Converse Global Music Marketing Director Jed Lewis said in a statement.

Artists have until Wed., June 24, to register for their chance to be accepted into the program. Applicants should list their top three studio picks, and a brief bio via video or written text. Oh, and they must be 18 years old and up. The idea is that 84 recording sessions will take place in the different studio spaces, with the selected artists getting the chance to work with the other musicians who have and are currently working in them.
