?The East Atlanta Village’s annual day-long festival, the East Atlanta Strut, celebrates its 18th year today (Sat., Sept. 26). As it does every year, the Strut takes place throughout EAV and feature eating contests, a classic car show, beard contest, and a parade. In addition, the festival will feature murals from local artists, such as olive47, Heather Greenway, Adrian Barzaga, sQuishiepuss, Catlanta, and R. Land, on many of the walls in the village, thanks to a Neighborhood Arts Grant the Strut received from the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs this year. Davy Minor, the Creative Director for the East Atlanta Strut, says that the festival will also feature special art installations from Doppler Projects and the Dahlia Project in addition to local music and DJs at Midway, Argosy, SoBa, and The EARL. As a nonprofit organization run entirely by volunteers, the East Atlanta Strut aims to showcase the best of what their neighborhood has to offer, and support local businesses and causes in doing so.
