Anyone who’s ever attended the bi-monthly soul/house-flavored nightlife event Spread Love knows that it’s one good-ass time. But this month’s edition — going down Saturday, October 20 — looks to be extra-special ... and that’s because it marks the return of Spread Love’s 5th annual Felabration soiree.

?
As the name suggests, Felabration is an Afrobeat themed affair designed to celebrate the sound and spirit of the late, legendary Nigerian musician/activist Fela Kuti.

?
The event is set to feature music by Spread Love’s co-founder/musical director DJ Kemit joined by Philly-based DJ/producer Rich Medina, and local icons like Mike Zarin and DJ Ausar, among others. On top of that, there’ll be an artist market (courtesy of the folks at Bazaar Noir), African dance performances by Guerilla Dance Project, live art installations, and tons more.

?
Seriously, you never know what’s gonna happen at Felabration. Last year, while the “Fela!” stage production was in town, the cast from the play stormed the party and performed a few Fela classics.

?
Also, trust me when I say the place gets packed. Take my advice: Show up and show up early.
