Local jazz duo Daysahead is slated to hit the Eddie’s Attic stage tonight, performing in the latest edition of the venue’s Songwriter’s Open Mic.

The group — consisting of singer Kim Leachman-Wright and guitarist Steve Wright — has been gigging around town and around the nation (and the world, actually) since 2003, cranking out a mellow brand of soul-dipped fusion at clubs and festivals. And when we say “fusion” we’re referring to, like, Tuck and Patti’s funkier stuff ... not Dave Koz or crap like that.

?
Tonight, Kim and Steve are playing an unplugged set of old and new tunes for a chance to win a spot in the Attic’s acclaimed Open Mic Shootout. Winners of the Shootout get awarded a bunch of prizes, including a concert at Eddie’s Attic; so if you dig jazz, pop on over and cheer on the Daysahead crew.

$6. 7 p.m. Eddie’s Attic, 515-B N McDonough St. ticketalternative.com.
