Animal Collective’s ‘Drop In’ summer tour rolls through Atlanta Alpharetta

All four members of the group are together again, and word has it they’ll be showing off some new jams

?
Animal Collective plays Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre tonight (Fri., July 8). As a whole, the group has remained fairly quiet over the last few years following the success of 2009’s Merriweather Post Pavilion. Now that a pair of well-received solo records from both Avey Tare (Down There) and Panda Bear (Tomboy) have had time to sink in, all four purveyors of palatable noise are together again, playing shows as part of its Drop in Summer Tour.

?
Word has it that the group will be running through some new stuff. But with no new release to speak of, it will be interesting to see if Animal Collective can fill such a large venue tonight. Regardless, it will be an awesome night, and what looks to be a relatively cool evening. Hopefully the gods of rain and thunder will remain at bay. Deradoorian (aka Angel Deradoorian from Dirty Projectors) and Atlas Sound (Bradford Cox of Deerhunter) open the show.
