Happy Thanksgiving Greenbriar And Chris Brown From Polow Da Don

Chris Brown shows his gratitude to his fans for Polow Da Don’s annual carnival and turkey giveaway at Greenbriar Mall two days before Thanksgiving.

Polow Da Don hasn’t forgotten where he’s come from. For the past four years, the in-demand producer known for hits such as Llloyd’s latest “Lay It Down” and Usher’s “Lil Freak” has given back to the SWATS by hosting a Thanksgiving event at Greenbriar Mall where turkeys and other Thanksgiving items are distributed to families in need. Despite the rain or drizzle, rather, this one proved to be one of the best ones to date.

?
Through his Zone 4 Entertainment and Foundation F.O.C.U.S., Polow Da Don gave away over 1000 turkeys and partnered with Ludacris and his imprint DTP and the Ludacris Foundation to add collard greens and yams to the mix. But more than that, he brought a real carnival just as the Fourth Annual Thanksgiving Carnival at Greenbriar Mall name suggests. Little kids could be seen smiling in moving teacups as well as grinning atop carousel horses. In addition, there was live entertainment as well as many celebrity appearances, which were the real draw.

?
Hosted by Georgia’s own Big Boi, Polow Da Don, assisted by Mia Welsh, Zone 4 Entertainment’s general manager, with V103 on the airwaves live from the event. Mayor Kasim Reed, another Southwest Atlanta native, presented Polow with the Phoenix Award, given to those working to make Atlanta a better place. Atlanta councilmembers also in attendance included Kwanza Hall and Keisha Lance Bottoms.

?
Those hitting the stage were beyond notable and included Waka Flocka Flame, Gucci Mane, Ludacris, Lloyd and Keri Hilson. But the real draw of the night was Chris Brown. As much as the other acts entertained to more than 5000 estimated to be in attendance, many, especially women and young girls braved the drizzle and chill to see Chris Brown.

?
Backstage, as volunteers scrambled to hit Kroger to get Chris Brown some water, the crowd grew ansy, shouting for Brown. When he hit the stage, dressed quite dapper, suited up “Takers” style, applause was thunderous. He didn’t disappoint either. Giving a concert-worthy performance to those who didn’t pay a dime and who could probably not afford to anyway, Brown danced a whole lot in addition to singing. He had dancers, musicians, the entire enchillada.

?
Having “Bow Wow,” whom he collaborated with on “Shortie Like Mine”, come out early in his performance was a great move if screams from the crowd are an accurate barometer. The women went wild. Not that Brown needed much help in that department. For “Take You Down,” he brought one lucky young lady on stage and even had one of his dancers massaging her feet as he also drove her wild, getting so close as to have his lips almost on hers. Cries of “I wish that were me” could be heard throughout the gathering, from the front stage and back.

?
It was hard to tell that Brown had ever fallen from grace. The adrenaline must have felt great because Brown flipped and foot looped his way further into the crowd’s heart. Hits like “No Air,” “Kiss, Kiss,” “Wall to Wall,” “Forever” and, of course, “Deuces” just kept coming. “With You” was another huge crowd pleaser. He was on a roll, even doing a playful version of Cee-Lo’s “F**k You”. There was absolutely no reason to doubt that Brown was going hard to win his stardom back. Setting the foundation for his upcoming album Fame with hard work and humility, Brown definitely looked poised to rise right back to the top and giving all that he had for this Thanksgiving event certainly proved it.

?
When Brown exited the stage, he was heavily guarded of course because a lot of women, near and far, wanted a piece of him. Later that night, he showed up at Aurum for a party promoted by Alex Gidewon. Rolling in with the man of the hour, Polow Da Don, in the wee, wee hours of the morning on Thanksgiving eve, Brown looked like he has just as much to be thankful about as the many, many people who came out to get their turkey. From them and Brown, it seemed like a unanimous “thumbs up” for Polow Da Don was definitely in order.
