The self-made Southern rapper is living proof that no press is bad press
You can take B.o.B out of the South, but you can’t take the South out of B.o.B. And while we’re still not ready to stop poking fun at ye olde Bobby Ray Simmons, Jr. for suggesting that he believes the world is flat, or that slavery might not have happened here in the U.S., he’s still a consummate performer, and a self-made gem of Southern hip-hop. With this years’ self-released album, titled Ether, B.o.B, defies mainstream trends with an inward journey, as songs such as “Peace Piece,” “4 Lit,” and “Big Kids” address everything from his battles with depression to advocating for weed over big pharma. Whatever, just keep upping his meds, he’ll be fine.
For this Christmas Eve blowout, B.o.B returns to the stage where he spent years honing his craft — it’s a homecoming show for the perennial outsider.
