Pot Fest: Burned again

Once again, Atlanta officials have snuffed out plans for a local pro-marijuana group to use Piedmont Park for the annual Great Atlanta Pot Festival. Paul Cornwell of the Coalition for the Abolition of Marijuana Prohibition tried to reserve April 28 for the festival, but was turned down.
Cornwell says he began trying to book the date last year, but was told it was too early. “Come to find out now they’ve booked it solid,” he says. “Then they tried to tell me they weren’t booking any ‘new events’ at the park, when it’s clearly grandfathered in. It’s been there seven times.” The move is the latest in a long-standing feud between CAMP and the Campbell administration: Cornwell was awarded damages in 1999 after suing for city interference with an earlier Pot Fest. “I hate to go back to court,” he says.
