Going once, going twice

Art Papers hosts third annual silent art auction

Art collectors looking for a deal on original artwork will want to drop by the third annual silent auction for Art Papers, a nonprofit arts magazine based in Atlanta.

The event takes place Feb. 2 at City Hall East in the ARTSCool Gallery, where a $10 donation will get you drinks and light hors d’oeuvres from local restaurants such as Mumbo Jumbo, Cherry and Bridgetown Grill and music by DJ John Otte.

Hundreds of artists from the South and across the U.S., among them Homare Ikeda, Julie Jones, Jill Larson, Michael Pittari, Joe Walters, Elizabeth Turk and Jim Waters, have donated art to the cause. Also featured in the auction will be gift certificates from local theaters, museums and restaurants, including Several Dancer’s Core, Horizon Theatre, the Michael C. Carlos Museum and the new Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia.

With an annual circulation of 135,000, Art Papers is distributed nationwide through subscriptions and can be found in bookstores, newsstands, libraries, museum shops and galleries.

A silent art auction for Art Papers will be held Feb. 2, 7-10 p.m., at the ARTSCooL Gallery, City Hall East, 675 Ponce de Leon Ave. www.artpapers.org. 404-588-1837, ext. 24.??
