See & Do - Visual art: Polaroidland May 18 2009

Sat., May 23

OK, digital cameras are better than Polaroids. Digital photos don’t cost a dollar a shot, and you can take more than 10 pictures at a time. But you can’t hold a digital photo. You can’t shake it for no apparent reason or leave smudgy fingerprints all over your friends’ faces. With POLAROIDLAND, artist Ryan Nabulsi explores issues of tangibility and transience by placing the two mediums, instant and digital, side by side. You can experience the Polaroid one last time before it goes the way of VHS and the Laserdisk. Through May 30. Free. Opening reception May 23, 8 p.m.; hours by appointment. 684 John Wesley Dobbs Ave., Unit B. 770-595-4248. www.mintgallery.org.
