Beer Pick of the Week - Ellie’s Brown Ale

Named for the owner’s late Labrador retriever, it shares the dog’s same “slightly nutty character.” The dominant taste is a rich, brown sugar sweetness that is balanced with roasted chocolate malt that gives the beer its color as well as a grownup mocha and coffee taste with a hint of nut. An assertive bitterness follows the up front sweetness, leaving a clean finish. A very drinkable brown ale that is smooth and full bodied but not unpleasantly heavy. It would be excellent with chocolate, cream or dark fruit desserts.
