Beer Pick of the Week - Brooklyn Pennant Ale ‘55

Saluting the 1955 World Champion Brooklyn Dodgers with a British pale ale seems a bit odd, but everything about this quaffable beer seems to say summer at the ballpark. The aroma is of pleasantly toasted malts and slightly grassy hops, like hot pretzels and a freshly mowed infield. A solid, moderately sweet malt backbone with a hint of hop fruitiness suggests a caramel apple. And the creamy, smooth mouthfeel, and moderately fizzy carbonation make it go down easy for all nine innings. A bit dull on the finish, but fine for watching the game with your buddies, who will probably like it too. Bringing the world together through beer and baseball.

Brooklyn Brewery, Brooklyn, N.Y. 5.2% alcohol by volume. On tap at Thinking Man Tavern in Decatur and in bottles at Green’s and other well-stocked liquor stores.
