Beer Pick of the Week - Ringwood Old Thumper

The Champion Beer of England in 1988 and the flagship ale of the Ringwood Brewery in the south of England is brewed under contract in the United States by Shipyard Brewing Company in Maine. A classic English extra special bitter (ESB), Old Thumper has a caramel malt flavor with hints of cider and a distinct tangy yeast that is typical of English ales. Compared to American craft beer hopping rates, the bitterness is moderate, with a mild floral bouquet. A rounded finish and a low carbonation level make it ideal beer to accompany grilled meats or to enjoy with a cigar during the football (i.e., soccer) match.
