Food - Pizza Facts

image-1?

IN THE BEGINNING…

?
Historians believe pizza is an ancestor of the flatbreads once consumed by ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans. Around the 18th century, the flatbreads — often topped with ingredients such as cheese, garlic, anchovy, and tomato — emerged as a common staple for Naples’ poor. It wasn’t until the early 1900s that Americans noticed, and ultimately fell in love with, the dish Italian-American immigrants had been eating for years.

FAN FAVES

?
Fellini’s Pizza and Antico Pizza Napoletana have each won CL’s Best of Atlanta Readers Pick for Best Pizza multiple times in the last 10 years. Fellini’s has won four times, while Antico has won five times.

??

CONSTRUCTION ZONE

?
It took approximately nine people, $75,000, and 30 days to build, ship, and assemble Antico Pizza’s three acunto ovens.
