Show Preview: Dwele

Thurs., July 1

Detroit-bred singer Dwele may be accused of making albums that sound like one long-ass song, but at least that song is jamming. While it’s obvious that the songwriter/trumpeter/producer has found a sound that works for him, he regularly showcases his diversity on frequent collaborations with the likes of Kanye (“Flashing Lights,” “Power”) and Pharoahe Monch (“Trilogy”). His 2008 release Sketches of a Man didn’t deviate from his blueprint, but he seeks to break the mold with his latest project W.W.W. (W.ants. W.orld. W.omen).
