Art news and notes: Evereman gets Hurt, BurnAway earns nonprofit status

Cool vid inside of Evereman installing his latest piece in Hurt Park

Local street artist Evereman gave cabin fever the finger this week by constructing one of his largest works to date - a 4-foot-by-4-foot cube branded with his trademark skull face - and planting in downtown on the GSU campus in Hurt Park.

Below is a cool video of the Everman installation from local urban art blog/shop Streetela.com, “a co-operative brand created to bring the independent urban artist together with those that appreciate the work.” Basically they turn street art into apparel or a fine art print. Currently, its roster of artists is limited to a few who participated in this summer’s Living Walls street art conference, and includes Jason Kofke, Evereman, Feral Child, M. Sueno, OX, Faber, The $tatus Faction, Urban Medium, Hugh Leeman, and MadOne.

In other news, BurnAway.org was granted its 501(c)(3) status making the local online art mag and CL fave officially official as a nonprofit. The nonprofit status will allow BurnAway to apply for more grants to help fuel its editorial and administrative needs, hopes and dreams.

“We have been operational for over two years, but having this official standing solidifies our presence even more and reinforces that we are in it for the long haul,” says BurnAway co-founder Susannah Darrow.

Congrats BurnAway!
