The Atlanta Contemporary Art Center has issued its first statewide call for entries in more than five years. Day Job: Georgia, an exhibition scheduled to open Jan. 13, will showcase works from artists living and working in Georgia, and “will examine the artist’s relationship to the day job and investigate its effect on artistic practice.” Deadline for submissions is MON., AUG. 1, 5 P.M.. Helping pass HB 73, a piece of legislation allowing local communities to pass a fraction of a penny sales tax for economic development and the arts, was one of the achievements of the Arts Leaders of Metro Atlanta. To help cultivate the next bundle of leaders who will make the arts and culture community stronger, the Metro Atlanta Arts & Culture Coalition is continuing its Arts Leaders of Metro Atlanta class this fall. The Emory College Center for Creativity & Arts is now accepting nominations for its Community Impact Awards. Each year two awards are given out; artists, administrators, educators, activists or supporters in any or all disciplines are all welcome to apply. All nominees must have worked or resided in DeKalb or Fulton counties. Nominations are also being accepted for awards that recognize contributions made by an Emory alum, faculty member, student, staff member, and campus arts volunteer to the artistic community at Emory. All nominations must be submitted by MON., AUG. 1, 5 p.m., at http://creativity.emory.edu/creativity-awards.shtml. Winners will be announced at the Emory Creativity & Arts Soiree, Sept. 9.

And finally, this time it’s for real: After a false alarm last year on April Fool’s Day, Wren’s Nest Executive Director Lain Shakespeare has announced that he’s leaving his post. But he’s not going far. Shakespeare will remain involved with the nonprofit as the chair of its board of directors.
