Atlanta Film Fest announces full lineup for 2015

? At last, after last week’s updates we have the final slate of features and shorts that will be screened during the 39th annual Atlanta Film Festival. The ATLFF received 3,761 submissions, and the lineup consists of 62 feature-length films, and 91 shorts. The festival runs from March 20-29, at the Plaza Theatre and other locations.

? “The variety of films from the 2015 festival includes stories from around the globe and from our backyard,” ATLFF Creative Director Kristy Breneman said in a statement. “It is an honor to assemble and present a lineup of films that I feel represent the best of independent filmmaking.”

? Going down every spring since 1976, the ATLFF is a multi-genre showcase of indie filmmaking from narrative dramas and documentary features to animated shorts and experimental cinema. Being that the ATLFF is also an Academy Award-qualifying festival, it’s no surprise that some prominent titles made their debut in Atlanta before catching Oscar’s attention. Last year’s ATLFF winners for narrative, and animated short jury prizes, The Dam Keeper and Butter Lamp, both received nominations for the 87th Academy Awards. After debuting at the 2001 ATLFF, The Accountant went on to win Oscar gold at the 2002 awards show.

? embed-1 On top of the films being screened over the course of 10 days, the ATLFF will host both an opening and closing gala, specialty programs, and Creative Conference workshops. Passes are currently available, and tickets for individual screenings will go on sale later this week.
