Weekend Arts Agenda: Cartoons, tattoos and a little bit of Ms. Pacman December 04 2009

Whether you want to relive your Atari-playing days or are looking to purchase some alternative art services there’s something going on for you.

FRIDAY (you know, today)

GutterPOP! artist James Curran will host Atari, a retro-inspired mixed media exhibition of his work. Come dressed in your ’80s best and remember the days when Galaga, Frogger, Ms. Pacman and BurgerTime dominated the gaming scene. Also enjoy free wine and cheese and the sound of local bands the Falcon Lords and Grand Prize Winners From Last Year. Free. 7 p.m. Picaflor. 404-247-6432. www.picaflorstudio.com.

Tonight, WonderRoot and ASIFA Atlanta open the Animation Art Show. Check out the work of local cartoonists and listen to a rundown of musical acts including the Black Pockets and Clementine Willowilde. All proceeds will benefit the Atlanta chapter of ASIFA, which works to keep the local ’toon scene alive. $5. 8 p.m.-12 a.m. WonderRoot. 404-254-5955. http://www.asifa-atlanta.com/
