Opening on Fri., Dec. 11, Sarah Emerson presents her new paintings at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia as part of the 2014/15 Working Artist Project. The Unbearable Flatness of Being brings together 18 paintings that can be combined to create one expansive landscape. Currently, Emerson teaches painting and drawing at Agnes Scott College and Georgia State University.

? >> Another December tradition is upon us, the annual Whitespace December show is happening this Fri., Dec. 11 from 7-10 p.m. Stop by for a night of affordable art, delicious food, whiskey cocktails and live music. The show is only up for two days, Friday and Saturday, so make sure to stop by this holiday show and pick up some affordable pieces.

? >> The Goat Farm opens their studios on Fri., Dec. 11 to the public. Join 40+ Goat Farm resident makers, artists, crafts and trades people, engineers, etc. for two days, Friday and Saturday, and get your holiday shopping done while supporting Atlanta’s local artists. >> Kibbee Gallery is hosting a larger-than-life holiday group show, Nick O’ Time, on Sat., Dec. 12. They filled the walls with as many artworks as possible from 30+ artists. The opening reception starts at 6 p.m.

? >> The Variety Show: Ladies First (Who Run this Mother) is a one-time performance at the Downtown Players Club. Featuring performances by eyeCandle, Jessica Caldas, Angela Davis Johnson, Hez Stalcup, Lindsay Smith, Iman Person, Sarah Shipman, and host Laura Lewis, the performance’s goal is “to breathe life into this medium both as a worldwide movement for continued validity, and as an expression of community outreach.” The show begins at 7 p.m.

New pieces by Atlanta’s favorite artists, emerging and established, that were previously featured in the gallery.
