Comic’s Weekly Roundup: From WonderComedy to Andrew Santino

Atlanta has one of the best comedy scenes in the country, and each week is filled with plenty of opportunities to see local comics and visiting national touring acts. He’s your best bets for getting into some funny business.

? Mon., Aug. 17
======It’s that time again for Beer and Comedy Night at Sweetwater Brewery, hosted by Joe Pettis. One of Atlanta’s favorite local breweries will open its doors to comedy fans tonight at 7 p.m. For $10, you get to see a handful of the city’s best comics, plus a souvenir pint, and beer tastings throughout the night. Get there early as seating is limited. Show starts at 8 p.m.

? Thur., Aug. 18
? Over at the gorgeous Highland Inn Ballroom, it’s another installment of Schlitz & Giggles. This week’s show boasts a line-up that includes Atlanta favorites Paige Bowman, Samm Severin, Mike Kaiser, and more. Thursday’s show also includes Sammy Obeid (more on him below), a special guest. It’s a great show in a great location, so come on out, grab a Schlitz and see what all the fuss is about. Doors open at 7 p.m.; show at 8 p.m. $10 cash at the door.

?>> Mo Arora is bringing comedy to Kirkyard Public House. For the third edition of this monthly showcase, Standup Kirkyard, Arora’s recruited the event’s first out-of-town headliner: the aforementioned, Sammy Obeid. Obeid has appeared on “America’s Got Talent,” “Conan,” and is currently a semifinalist on this season of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.” He’ll be joined on stage by Austin Chardac, Max Fine, and Michael Rowland. Show’s at 8 p.m. $12.

? Fri., Aug. 21It’s the third Friday of the month, which means it’s time for one of Atlanta’s best monthly showcases, WonderComedy. This month’s show will be headlined by the hilarious Jarrod Harris. In addition to headlining clubs all over the country, Harris has appeared on TBS’ “Lopez Tonight,” and Comedy Central’s “Live at Gotham.” He also released his first album Present and Talkative this year via Rooftop Comedy. Harris will be joined on stage by Zach Lamplugh, Lace Larrabee, Andrew George, Matt Pharr, Dan Immke, Joe Gallois, and host Andrew Michael. Doors open at 8:30 p.m.; show at 9 p.m. $5 cash.

? The Weekend  If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, head down to the Laughing Skull Lounge in Midtown to see Andrew Santino. Santino has appeared at such festivals as SXSW in Austin, and Just For Laughs in Montreal. He has appeared on a bevy of TV shows including “Conan,” Comedy Central’s “@Midnight,” “The Office,” “Arrested Development,” and more. He will headline six shows at the club, Thursday through Sunday.

?>> You’ll have one more chance to see some stand-up comedy while sipping on some local brews this Sunday at Pints & Punchlines at 5 Seasons Brewery’s in Sandy Springs. This is the debut show for this new monthly showcase that plans on returning the fourth Sunday of every month and features a fantastic line-up that includes Kevin Saucier, Ismael Loutfi, Dulce Sloan, Will Copeland and more. Brewery shows are always a ton of fun, so come check out yet another one. Show’s at 7:30pm. $15
