Before Bulldog fans sharpen their pitchforks and call for the beheading of head coach Mark Richt, let’s all take a deep breath. Feel better? Didn’t think so.

Unless you’ve been hiding out with former University AD Damon Evans for the past five weeks, you’re well aware that the Georgia Bulldogs football team isn’t playing very well.

The Dawgs are 1-4 so far this season—their worst start since 1993—and Bulldog Nation is less than pleased.

Everyone from the AJC’s Mark Bradley and Jeff Schultz to this guy has shared their opinion on why the Georgia football team is struggling so mightily this season and they all seem to revolve around head coach Mark Richt.

After a 7-5 campaign last season—Georgia’s worst finish under Richt—and a rather inauspicious start to 2010, the proverbial coaching hot seat has been cranked up to 11...or is it ‘high’?

However you want to quantify it, the pressure on Richt to start winning ballgames is immense and widespread as seemingly every state resident and throngs of University alumni are all calling for his job.

But why?
