California’s Prop. 8 ruled unconstitutional

Logic wins!

It was announced just minutes ago that a California judge ruled that Proposition 8, which defined marriage in that state as being between one man and one woman, violates the the U.S. Constitution.

Gawker.com posted an excerpt from the ruling:
Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license. Indeed the evidence shows Proposition 8 does nothing more than enshrine in the California constitution the notion that opposite sex couples are superior to same sex couples.
According to GA Voice, a rally is scheduled to take place this evening at 6:30 p.m. at the corner of Piedmont and 10th in Midtown.

Before you party too heartily, keep in mind the decision will most definitely be appealed. Next stop: the U.S. Supreme Court.
