The dance company creates a trippy "mapping" of the MARTA station for free tonight

  • gloATL performed at the Sol LeWitt sculpture "54 Columns" on Saturday, July 9. Next up is a free performance at the Lindbergh MARTA station tonight, July 14, at 7 pm.

MARTA may have created a bummer for all Atlantans when it raised its fares, but that doesn't mean awesome art can't still be offered there for free. The dance company gloATL will create a "station within a station" when the dancers bring their trippy, exploratory "mapping" to the Lindbergh MARTA stop tonight, Thursday, July 14, at 7 pm for a free performance.

The dancers of gloATL are currently in the midst of a series of free public performances entitled “Liquid Culture, a series of five Utopia Stations.” The shows, which are taking place in various public spots around Atlanta throughout the month of July, kicked off last Saturday, July 9, with a stunning sunset performance at Sol LeWitt’s Stonehenge-like sculpture “54 Columns” on North Highland. Tonight the group will be performing at the Lindbergh MARTA station at 7 pm. Tomorrow night, Friday, July 15, sees the dancers installing themselves into the windows of Little Five Points shops from 6 to 9 pm. Next weekend, July 22-23, wraps up the series with two final performances at the corner of 15th and Peachtree. For more information, visit gloATL.
