New Do Good Fundraising Campaign to help Vine City veterans

Round 2 of CL’s Do Good Campaign is underway.

Calling all do-gooders! Check out the current issue of Creative Loafing for details about Round 2 of CL’s Do Good Campaign, the latest in a series of grassroots partnerships that helps raise funds for neighborhood-based projects that might not have otherwise found the resources.

This time around, with so many worthy neighborhood projects nominated over the last several months, the vetting process was a nail-biter. In the end, the winning campaign went to Quest Veterans Village, a residential community in Vine City providing permanent housing to disabled men and women veterans. The proposed project will help create a greenspace for residents, something currently lacking at the Quest Veterans Village facility.

Online fundraising, hosted by Indiegogo, began Sept. 26 and will run for the next month. Look for announcements about upcoming fundraising events here on Fresh Loaf in the coming days. Meanwhile, read about this worthy group of veterans rebuilding their lives in this challenged community and learn about Leonard Adams, the inspiring war vet who founded Quest Community Development Organization, a nonprofit devoted to helping low-income and chronically homeless individuals find permanent housing.

Oh, and donate, too. Whether it’s a $1 or $100, every contribution helps us reach our goal of $2,500 - which the Home Depot Foundation will match dollar for dollar - by October 26.
