First Slice 10-9-15: Turner Field developments may offer affordable housing – or maybe not

There are some interesting caveats in the city’s Request for Proposals released last week for Turner Field redevelopment projects. Though the RFP does call for 10% of residential units to be affordable, it does does not specify how much new housing developers should build. And even if some new homes do become available, they may not be attainable for people who already live or work in the area. The maximum price will be determined by median income for all of metro Atlanta, which is $11,000 higher than the median income in the City of Atlanta.

?In the wake of a drinking water shortage in South Carolina, Atlanta leaders are taking steps to make sure the city has a 30-day backup water supply in case of emergency. The reservoir will be part of the Bellwood Quarry project and is slated for completion in 2020.
