Omnivore - Summer Guide: Foodie road trips

A foodie’s paradise is just five hours away in Charleston

SIMPLY DELICIOUS: FIG, 2010 James Beard Award winner for Best Chef in the Southeast Sean Brock’s restaurant.

For this year’s Summer Guide, CL’s writers, critics and editors hit the road to dish on eight of their favorite destinations throughout the Southeast. We found a foodie’s paradise just five hours away in Charleston. Per square inch, Charleston has the best eating in the Southeast – a collection of fantastic restaurants in a small radius that make for a great night of progressive eating. We also take a day trip in search of wine country in Dahlonega and hit up the infamous Southern buffet at one of Georgia’s roadside attractions, the Blue Willow Inn. Happy summer!
