Hilah Cooking is a weekly cooking show hosted by Austin-based singer/actor/comedian Hilah Johnson. In this episode, Johnson must reconcile two of her conflicting loves. On one hand, Johnson loves Chick-fil-A chicken sandwiches, but on the other hand, she also has a bunch of gay friends and she loves them too.

“Chick-fil-A has made it pretty clear through their political affiliations that they don’t really love the gay people so much, so I can’t really support a company like that,” Johnson says.

Earlier this year, Equality Matters reported that Chick-fil-A had donated more than $3 million to anti-gay groups between 2003 and 2009. And yesterday, when asked about the company’s support of the “traditional family” Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy’s response was, “Well, guilty as charged.”

Not to be deterred, Johnson came up with a solution for those who are similarly torn by coming up with her own version of the Chick-fil-A sandwich. Johnson calls her sandwich The Chick-Fil-Gay. “Because it’ll make you happy.” Also, it’s illegal to marry it.

According to the episode description, “this version of the sandwich contains less sugar, less salt, and less funding for anti-human-equality organizations.”
