Lusca, the new restaurant from Octopus Bar’s Nhan Le and Angus Brown, will make its debut at 1829 Peachtree Road in Brookwood Hills next Tuesday. The 85-or-so-seat restaurant marks Brown’s return to full-scale dining since leaving the scene to open the late-night only Octopus Bar with Le in 2011. Eventually, the restaurant will be open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch. The first week will consist of dinner service only. Then the restaurant will roll out lunch and and breakfast during weeks two and three respectively. Brunch is slated to begin Sunday, May 4.

Le will take charge of Lusca’s highly anticipated raw bar. The crew also includes charcuterist, butcher, and Brown’s longtime friend Jonathan Sellito, executive sous chef Andy Tran (Octopus Bar, Joli Kobe), pastry chef Brooke Lenderman (Cakes & Ale, Empire State South), and morning sous chef Wilson Gourley (STG Trattoria).

Lusca’s menu will evolve constantly, Brown says, and he has plenty of ideas to get the ball rolling.

“I’ve spent the last month focusing on where everything is coming from because sourcing will be a huge part of what we do,” Brown tells CL. “We want to do something different than what already exists in Buckhead. I hope people will be excited about our food. I am.”

Breakfast will be anchored by Lenderman’s housemade bagels and breads, granola with goat’s milk yogurt, and Counter Culture Octane Coffee. At lunch, fans of Octopus Bar will be pleased to see the lobster roll as a fixture on the menu along with a dry-aged burger and fried oysters. Brown is particularly excited about brunch where he plans to serve oysters and champagne and an over-the-top banana bread french toast with super-special maple syrup from Société-Orignal, a boutique food producer out of Montreal.

Beginning next Tuesday, Lusca will be open for dinner Monday-Saturday, 5-11 p.m. Stay tuned for updated hours here or on the restaurant’s Facebook page. In the meantime, see how Lusca’s menu is shaping up below:
