The brothers behind King of Pops, Steven and Nick Carse, have announced plans to open a new concept, called Dessert Alley. Currently eyeing Old Fourth Ward or Inman Park for its forthcoming location, the duo hopes to launch in April 2015, offering coffee and sweets such as cookies pies, and continues to plan for a possible event space for crop mobs and demos by 2017.

Charleston bigwig chef Sean Brock (of Husk and McCrady’s fame) has plans to bring a second outpost of Minero — his brand-new, street-food-style Mexican restaurant in the Holy City — to Ponce City Market in Atlanta. Brock’s fresh venture should materialize by April 2015 at 675 Ponce de Leon Ave. Brock will man the Midtown eatery for the first couple of months, after which he will appoint a sous chef to run the show. Expect fresh tortillas, salsas, and other items available for purchase.

Cooks & Soldiers, the Basque-inspired eatery from Castellucci Hospitality Group — the same folks behind the Iberian Pig, Double Zero Napoletana, and Sugo Kitchen — opened on the Westside last week. The restaurant focuses on cuisine native to a shared region of France and Spain, and is inspired heavily by the “pintxos,” or small snack culture of northeastern Spain. Look for whole grilled fish, steak, a signature burger, and more prepared by executive chef Landon Thompson and sous chef John Castellucci.

In case you missed it, the owners of Decatur’s Wahoo! Grill will open Wahoo Wine & Provisions in Oakhurst. Slated to open before the end of the year at 1036 W. College Ave. The new shop will offer vinos, of course, but also meats and cheeses, local produce, flowers, and gifts. Follow the progress via Facebook here.

Chef Ford Fry’s much-awaited Mexican place, the El Felix, is now open at Avalon in Alpharetta. Ensconced within a relaxed and casual interior, it serves upscale interpretations of classic fare: everything from tortilla soup and steak nachos to red snapper and lobster — with a hefty price tag to match.

In related news, the uber-successful Barcelona Wine Bar & Restaurant will capitalize on the popularity of its vintages by opening a new wine shop in Inman Quarter (280 Elizabeth St.). Helmed by beverage director Katie Rice and slated to open this spring, the as-of-yet-unnamed concept will be called either Vinoteco Barcelona or Barcelona Vinoteca and will eventually offer between 500 and 700 bottles, including house wine options as low as $10. A few will rotate seasonally, and the shop will also boast a wi-fi-equipped library, as well.

Krog Street Market opened to the public Nov. 24. Already serving patrons are Little Tart Bakeshop, Fred’s Meat & Bread, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, Yalla, Craft Izakaya,XOCOLATL chocolates, the Spotted Trotter charcuterie, and the Luminary. Grand Champion BBQ, Superica Mex-Tex, Pannus Bakery, Spice Road chicken stall, Off the Dock Seafood, Gu’s Dumplings, The Cockentrice, and a new concept from Greg Best and Regan Smith are soon to come.
