Quick Bites: Atlanta Food and Wine 2015 Festival, Brash Coffee coming to Atlanta, and more

The fifth annual Atlanta Food and Wine Festival began selling tickets today, Fri., Feb. 13., with the sales of early bird passes continuing until Mar. 16. This five-day festival consists of Atlanta’s top chefs and bartenders featuring almost one hundred classes providing learning tasting experiences, and dinners and events. The festival will take place in Midtown May 28-31.

Brash Coffee, a roasting company that farms its own coffee beans in El Salvador, is opening in the Westside Provisions District summer 2015. This will be founder Matt Ludwikowski’s second location after opening up his first brick-and-mortar shop in Chattanooga, Tenn. Ludwikowski is devoted to the bean to beverage industry by directly controlling the entire process himself. The shop will offer a more communal feel with a large table in the center where shoppers can engage and learn about the different offerings of coffee.

A fourth location of the Atlanta-based Dtox Juice is also slated to open in the Westside Provisions District next month. Dtox Juice focuses on local, organic fruits, vegetables, and plants for its cold-pressed and nutrient rich juices and smoothies. Look out for other products such as bath minerals, cleanse packages, and more. At this location, Dtox Juice will also serve salads, organic teas, and coffees at its covered, outdoor bar.

Grant Park Coffeehouse is opening its second location in Grant Park. This one will go across from Zoo Atlanta at 760 Confederate Ave. This is the first business to announce its plans to open up shop in one of the newly renovated spaces at in this commercial building.

In case you missed it, the revamped concept Hi-Five Diner, Grindhouse Killer Burgers’ Alex Brounstein, opened this week. Brounstein said he wanted to reopen Villains in another neighborhood and bring Midtown a diner serving all-day breakfast, lunch, and dinner along with an espresso bar, plus craft beer and wine.

Roswell’s Lucky’s Burger and Brew is opening its third metro-Atlanta location in the former Starbucks space off North Decatur Road by Emory Village. And yes, its concept is exacting what you’d think, different varieties of burgers and beers.

Café Bombay’s managing director is opening an Indian street food restaurant named Masti - Fun Indian Street Eats in Toco Hills at 2945 North Druid Hills Road NE, the former Osteria Cibo Rustico space. The opening date is set for March. Concept wise, it is said to imagine something like Decatur’s Chai Pani.

The Freakin’ Incan, a Peruvian street food truck, opened a brick-and-mortar in Roswell located at 4905 Alabama Road. As far as ITP goes, you can still sight the food truck popping at different in-town locations.

Rita’s Italian Ice located in the Midtown Promenade Shopping Center, will not reopen this spring. There has yet to be any release of what could occupy this now vacant space. But, speaking of Italian ice, Rio’s Italian Ice food truck has applied to open up its first brick-and-mortar location at 1518 Jonesboro Road. It is slated to open this March.

If you’re craving or needing the iconic Waffle House cuisine and you’re Downtown, you will soon have another location option in the One 12 apartment building at 112 Courtland Street. The release of the opening date is still to come.
