The eighth annual Atlanta Shortsfest returns to Synchronicity Theatre July 7-8, featuring short films across a variety of genres, all 45 minutes in length or shorter. As part of the Atlanta Film Series, a four-month showcase of independent film, Shortsfest promotes oft-overlooked short films and provides a platform for filmmakers to show, share and discuss their work.

City of Ink founder and Notch8 co-founder Miya Bailey showcases a visual reminiscence of his childhood with Broken Stories. In his only exhibition at Notch8 for 2017, Bailey experiments with a variety of styles, resurrecting forgotten characters and images from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. Broken Stories allows Bailey to work through his personal demons while also reminding viewers of things they may have forgotten from the past. Notch8 Gallery strives to provide affordable art for both first-time and seasoned art collectors by bringing in artists who embody Notch8’s creative and innovative style.

The Mammal Gallery - 91 Broad St. S.W. Atlanta, GA 30303 7 p.m.

For six days after the initial Destroy Rebuild event, artists and non-artists came together to build new pieces from the dregs of destroyed works. The final products will be on display at the closing reception of phase III. Purchase a $10 tote bag for all-you-can-stuff art and supplies.

Smith’s Olde Bar presents A Night Honoring the Life and Music of Chris Cornell, featuring a slew of bands resounding the acrimonious highs of ’90s alternative rock via dirty guitars, power chords and fuzztones. The lineup includes local acts UltraDrive, James Hall & the Steady Wicked, A Slow Boat to China and Danny Grady of the post-grunge outfit Injected, along with tribute bands Siamese Dream, El Scorcho, Suck on Primus, Nameless Nameless and Stone Tribute Pilots. All proceeds benefit the MusiCares Foundation, an organization that provides emergency financial assistance and addiction recovery programs to struggling musicians.

With the Russians dipping their hands into everything lately emails, elections, etc. Sketchworks Comedy decided to create a show putting them front and center.
