Black Marble, Body of Light, Pyramid Club

The Earl - 488 Flat Shoals Ave. S.E. Atlanta, GA 30316 $12. 8:30 p.m.

After a four-year hiatus, Black Marble reemerged late last year with its second full-length, It’s Immaterial. Picking up where 2012’s A Different Arrangement left off, this latest release finds the band, brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Chris Stewart, shifting from stark synth-wave into a warmer, more dynamic sound. “Interdiction,” the album’s opening track, is a controlled cacophony, featuring electronic swirls and howls, sounding as much like a rouge pinball machine as a Casio. While the band has largely maintained the chilly electronic aesthetic of its previous efforts, It’s Immaterial subtly embraces a more traditional pop structure, at times sounding as much like Spandau Ballet as Silicon Teens.

Punk Black, Sagas, Bloodplums, holders, Royal Sun, KillerKroc

Union EAV - 485 Flat Shoals Ave. S.E. Atlanta, GA 30316 $5. 11 p.m.

In a scene that’s saturated with white dudes (no offense, white dudes), one has to dig a little deeper to find people of color in the Atlanta punk scene. PUNK BLACK is a monthly independent rock event/organization presented by Young Gods Rebel, specifically geared to feature people of color in the local punk music/art scene and community. PUNK BLACK returns this month at Union EAV with a five-band lineup, local vendor Smith Creativ, as well as free comics provided by My Parents’ Basement for those in Cosplay.
