Atlanta Contemporary celebrates the release of Wussy Mag’s Fight Issue, a new arts and literary zine featuring more than 30 Southern queer artists. Wussy Mag covers queer nightlife, art and culture in Atlanta and the Southeast, and The Fight Issue promises to continue its “curated, singular, queer-centric point-of-view.” The event will include a reading from the artists featured in the zine, as well as a panel discussion on Southern queer representation in arts and media.

Jaqueline Woodson, Another Brooklyn

Margaret Mitchell House - 979 Crescent Ave. N.E. Atlanta, GA 30309 $10-$15. 7 p.m.

New York Times bestselling author Jacqueline Woodson stops by the Margaret Mitchell House to read from and discuss Another Brooklyn, a coming-of-age story told in reverse and her first adult novel in two decades. August, Angel, Sylvia and Gigi spent their childhood together in 1970s Bushwick filled with light, hope, joy and laughter. But a chance encounter with an old friend reminds August of another, less innocent side of the Brooklyn neighborhood. August recounts the strife and harmony of her girlhood with a matured perspective as Woodson plays with time and memory.

Wolf Fest

Northside Tavern - 1058 Howell Mill Road N.W. Atlanta, GA 30318 Free. 9 p.m.

Dedicated to the blues singer Howlin’ Wolf, Wolf Fest returns to Northside Tavern for its 13th year of celebrating the legend’s songs and career. Wolf Fest began in 2001, when the Atlanta blues band the Breeze Kings put its love for Wolf to the test, covering Northside Tavern’s walls with pictures of the singer and playing nothing but Wolf songs well into the night. Wolf Fest 2017 will feature performances by Atlanta blues performers, including Ross Pead, Frankie’s Blues Mission, the Cazanovas, the Vipers, Larry Griffith, Dry White Toast, Funky Bluester and, of course, the Breeze Kings.
