Since returning to the stage and studio in 2012, spacerock stalwarts Landing have unleashed a steady stream of shimmering, atmospheric EPs and LPs. The group’s latest full-length, 2016’s Complekt, occupies a space between wispy ambience and droning guitar rock. “Light,” the album’s opener, pulsates dreamily alongside Adrienne Snow’s familiar gossamer vocals. Complekt’s title track finds the band flexing different muscles as it trudges along with prog riffs and a steadfast beat. Despite the group’s reputation for the otherworldliness, Landing is a band with one foot firmly planted on Earth. The group’s capacity to stay grounded has allowed it to endure and evolve for nearly two decades.
