Dining w/ Gratitude

American Cut Atlanta - 3035 Peachtree Road N.E., Suite140 Atlanta, GA 30305 USA

From Aug. 20-23, local restaurants encourage diners to dine with gratitude. More than two dozen local restaurants will donate 10 percent of sales to the Giving Kitchen, a nonprofit that assists hospitality workers in crisis. Uber Eats will donate 15 percent of sales from orders from participating restaurants. Participating restaurants include American Cut, Farm Burger, Noni’s, Oak Steakhouse, Smokebelly, Botiwalla, Lure, Marlow’s Tavern, Char and more. Southern Wing Showdown

The Foundry at Puritan Mill - 916 Joseph E. Lowery Blvd. Atlanta, GA 30318 $30-$40. 2 p.m.

The second Southern Wing Showdown festival features all-you-can-eat Springer Mountain Farms chicken wings prepared by 25 chefs from all over the South. Bluegrass band Battlefield Collective will be performing during the festival. Proceeds support Second Helpings Atlanta, a nonprofit hunger and food waste reduction benefit, Open Hand, a chronic disease management organization.

 

Foxeria del Sol’s Hatch Chile Fest

Taqueria del Sol - 2165 Cheshire Bridge Road Atlanta, GA 30324 $35. 4 p.m.

Taqueria del Sol and Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q are collaborating on a special menu for a small festival to celebrate the arrival of the annual shipment of hatch chiles from New Mexico. One hundred percent of all proceeds benefit Hogs for the Cause, a nonprofit organization that funds pediatric brain cancer outreach services.

 

Essential Theatre PlayDate: Another Mother

West End Performing Arts Center - 945 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd. S.W. Atlanta, GA 30310 $10 8 p.m.

Winner of the 2017 Essential Theatre Playwriting Award, this play follows the journey of Genevieve as she pieces together the mysterious identities and relationships between her biological mother, her birth mother and the mother who raised her. Guests should park at the Wren’s Nest.

 

Laura Patricia Calle Day

Paris on Ponce - 716 Ponce de Leon Place N.E. Atlanta, GA 30306 8 p.m.

In 2016, the City of Atlanta declared Aug. 21 Laura Patricia Calle Day. The late visual artist promoted culture and community through her passion for art. Living Walls and the Calle family celebrate the second Laura Patricia Calle Day and award the send grant in Calle’s name. Last year’s recipient, Danielle Deadwyler, presents a documentary she produced with House of June, and La Choloteca’s DJ ESME performs some of Calle’s favorite music. Stick around for late night music and drinks at 8ARM.
