Tickets

Tig Notaro

The Tabernacle - 152 Luckie St. N.W. Atlanta, GA 30303 $33. 7:30 p.m.

The Tabernacle opens its doors to some truly iconic acts, and Tig Notaro is certainly an icon. From pushing a stool around on “Conan” to releasing an album entirely revolving around her cancer diagnosis, she delivers a rare blend of silly and nonsensical and the astutely cathartic. Notaro’s latest special, “Boyish Girl Interrupted,” premiered on HBO in 2015 as well as her semi-autobiographical Amazon series, “One Mississippi,” which returns for season two this September. You can steal an Amazon password later, but you can only get tickets to see Notaro live in Atlanta for a short time. Get on it.

The Robber Bridegroom

Act3 Playhouse - 6285-R Roswell Road Sandy Springs, GA 30068 $15-$30. 3 p.m.

Act 3 opens the season in August with The Robber Bridegroom. Based on the novella by beloved writer Eudora Welty, The Robber Bridegroom is the Southern-fried Robin Hood tale of Jamie Lockhart, a dangerous, handsome, backwoods rogue who’s a gentleman by day and bandit by night. When he falls for Rosamund, the beautiful daughter of a wealthy planter, his world and code of ethics are turned upside down. Throw in an evil stepmother intent on Rosamund’s demise, her pea-brained henchman, and a hostile talking head-in-a-trunk, and you have a rollicking country romp.
