Art Gone Wild

Zoo Atlanta - 800 Cherokee Ave. S.E. Atlanta, GA 30315 Free-$25. 9:30 a.m.

Thirty artists will be positioned throughout the Atlanta Zoo to celebrate Paint-Out Week. Visitors will be able to watch masterpieces come to life as they explore the zoo. Completed works will be available for sale in the days following the event.

 

Summer Reading Program

Sisters Bookshop - 209 Edgewood Ave. S.E., Sweet Auburn Curb Market Atlanta, GA 30303 $80. 11:30 a.m.

Keep the kids’ minds engaged during summer break with a reading program. Kids from age 7-14 are invited to read, participate in creative-thinking activities and lunch at the Curb Market. Registration includes a T-shirt and a tote bag for loading up on books. Cost of the books is not included, but scholarships are available.

 

Lisa Wingate: Before We Were Yours

The Atlanta History Center’s summer author lineup continues with Lisa Wingate and her novel Before We Were Yours which portrays the redemptive hardships of 12-year-old Rill Foss and his four brothers and sisters. The children are dragged into the real-life scandal of Georgia Tann, the adoption organization director who orchestrated the kidnapping and selling of poor children to wealthy families throughout the country.
