SEE & DO: Richard Lloyd plays the Star Bar on June 24

The former Television guitarist returns playing songs from throughout his career

Just back from a run of East Coast tour dates, former Television guitarist <a href=”https://www.richardlloyd.com/ Richard Lloyd returns to Atlanta for a show at the Star Bar on Fri., June 24. The current incarnation of his group features Lloyd handling lead guitar and vocal duties alongside rhythm guitarist Jason NeSmith, bass player Terry Clouse and drummer Jeff Brakebill performing a handful of Television classics along with numbers from throughout his solo catalog. Lloyd’s rhythm guitar work in Television’s 1977 masterpiece, Marquee Moon, and the 1978’s Adventure laid the foundation for an elegant, albeit outsider spark in American punk to reach deeper into the creative recess of the mind. These days he calls Chattanooga, Tennessee home. His most recent album, Rosedale, puts a gritty, phantasmagoric spin on raw production and no frills rock songs, placing his M.O. in a modern DIY context. And with the better part of a year under their belt, the group is functioning like a well-oiled machine.

When not on the road, Lloyd has also spent much of his time recently putting the finishing touches on a new book titled <a href=”http://www.everythingiscombustible.com/ Everything Is Combustible: The Memoirs of an Alchemical Guitarist <a href=”http://www.everythingiscombustible.com/ , due out Oct. 24 .

<a href=”event/the-star-community-bar/richard-lloyd-television-night-terrors Richard Lloyd plays the Star Bar on Sat., June 24.
