CHEF SEEKING CHEF: Hugh Acheson posted a note on Instagram suggesting he just might be opening a new restaurant in Atlanta.

Is chef Hugh Acheson opening a new restaurant in Atlanta? Signs point to yes. He posted a handwritten note on Instagram this morning saying he’s “looking for a really good chef. Exec position in ATL for shiny new kitchen.” We particularly enjoyed the job requirements: “Must know how to make food, lead people, be happy, and be themselves.”

The Atlanta Hawks signed a pretty cool key player this week. Joe Schafer is the new executive chef of Philips Arena, over all restaurants, concessions and VIP dining. Replacing Schafer at Bacchanalia is former chef de cuisine Jonathan Kallini.

There is a new burger joint headed to Chamblee. Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar is slated to open its first Atlanta location in the Parkview on Peachtree mixed-use development this September.

Roll call! Conveyor belt sushi restaurant Kula Revolving Sushi Bar has opened in Super H Mart in Doraville (6035 Peachtree Rd.). Guests grab what they want to eat for lunch and dinner as plates of nigiri, rolls, tonkotsu ramen and shrimp tempura udon roll by on a revolving belt.

Wild Heaven Beer has launched a new beer in collaboration with Nine Mile Station’s Rob Merrick and Arundel Brewery out of Sussex, England. The easy-drinking session pub ale, called Bestie, is amber-colored with hints of peat, dark fruits and lingering hops. Plus, there is an adorable pup on the can.

New restaurant tenants for the $370 million Halcyon mixed-use development’s Market Hall, a Krog Street Market style food hall in Forsyth County, were announced this week. On the list: a new burger concept from chef Marc Taft joins Gu’s Dumplings, TOCAYO Mexican street food, Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee Co., Kilwins, FEED Fried Chicken, Butcher & Brew, Never Enough Thyme and CO-OP Community Table and Bar. Market Hall is slated to open in 2018.

Get in while you can. This is the last week for TGM Bread’s soup and sandwich pop-up at Emory Point. There will be no pop-up the week of July 25 and a new pop-up series begins Aug. 1.

Inman Quarter’s Hampton + Hudson is kicking brunch up a notch this weekend. Beginning at 1 p.m. this Sunday, Brunch + Books takes over the dining room. Author Val Emmich reads from and signs his novel, The Reminder, which is described in a release as “a hilarious and tender exploration of loss, memory, friendship, and renewal.” This romp also has a soundtrack, which the author will perform while guests nosh on chef Savannah Sasser’s A.M. menu.

Talk about bad T-junction feng shui. After a second car plowed into Old Fourth Ward’s Ammazza (591 Edgewood Ave. SE) in early July, the restaurant has shut down until further notice.

A recent selection included prosciutto San Daniele, soppressata, pantaleo, ubriacone and mixed olives; mortadella, Lou Bergier and Santa Teresa with mixed olives and pistachios; and finocchiona, bresaola, canestrato de Madaio with provolone piccante and pistachios.
