In November, Atlanta voters will elect a new mayor, city council president and at least eight new city council members. C4 Atlanta is hosting a free concert, #ActivateATL, on Sat., Aug. 5, in Hell at the Masquerade to promote voting in the November elections. Tickets for the all ages, non-partisan event are free with an online pledge to vote.

“We know that one effective way to get people to vote is to ask them,” says C4 Atlanta Education Manager Audrey G??mez in a press release. “Research proves this. That’s exactly what we’re doing, in a way that’s fun and supportive of the contributions in this area from our arts community.?۝

C4 Atlanta aims to encourage young voters through #ActivateATL to “influence the future of the city in whatever way aligns with their personal values.” The non-profit arts service organization’s concert will feature live music and speakers, including a performance by jazz singer/songwriter Chantae Cann, whose forthcoming sophomore album is due out this fall. A second featured artist and speakers will be announced on Mon., July 10.

“Voters hold a lot of power and possibility in this election for the future of the city, and we think this event can help with getting the word out,” says C4 Atlanta Executive Director Jessyca Holland.

Chantae Cann plays the Masquerade on Sat., Aug. 5. Doors open at 7 p.m. Show starts at 8 p.m. 75 MLK Jr Dr. S.W. 404-577-8178. www.masq.com.
