Georgia lawmakers aim to protect net neutrality
Democrats at the Gold Dome are fighting the FCC’s repealFriday December 15, 2017 06:11 pm EST
Jones, backed by other Georgia Democrats, prefiled legislation for the upcoming General Assembly in an attempt to push back at the Federal Communications Commissions decision to repeal Obama-era net neutrality protections.
“This is a blatantly anti-consumer move designed to punish ‘cord cutters,’ those who no longer wish to pay for overpriced and ad-filled traditional television content,” Jones told the Chronicle. “Any new fees imposed on content providers will be passed on to consumers. This could mean new or higher charges on internet content and speed.”
